Outcome summary
We built an inspection station in which four cameras check the outside of each part and a fifth camera with mirror optics looks inside it, all in a single acquisition. The system gives one verdict per part, with the same inspection logic on every production line.
Starting situation
The parts are small, high-value and safety-relevant. Each one must be checked on several faces and measured against tight tolerances. Manual inspection under a microscope is a bottleneck and depends on the individual operator.
The system
- Four cameras inspect the outside of the part, one per side.
- A fifth camera uses mirror optics to look inside the part, reaching internal surfaces that a direct view cannot see, from several angles in a single shot.
- Together they capture the whole part, outside and inside, in one acquisition, without handling or rotating it.
- Dedicated measurement tools take a precision measurement on each side.
- AI-based detection supports the visual checks.
- An embedded GPU computer runs at each machine.
Implementation
All views, the four outer sides and the mirrored inside view, feed a single processing graph and are analysed together. The system gives one verdict per part, based on its outside and its inside. The same inspection profile runs on every line, adapted to its own cameras and optics.
Results and evidence
Every part is inspected and measured consistently, outside and inside, in one acquisition, with the same logic on every line, replacing operator-dependent manual checks.
After launch
The system runs in production on several identical lines. A new unit on newer hardware is being prepared.
